Test #2

Today has been very hectic day. I have had 3 classes and taken 2 tests so far.  My mind needs a break. The test I took today was a challenging but fair test. I got stuck on the people and some of the civilization. Ok I need 100 more words, so now what can I write. On test days I don't know what I can type up for blogs. The test was on pink paper and Mr. Schick yelled at people that forgot to bubble in answers. He also recommended us to buy him a Starbucks gift card, but I'm going to be pretty busy this break. I hope it gets hotter. I need 70ish more words and I don't know what I can type. Logan is currently yelling at Scott and he is trying to ask a question about the test. Jacob is talking in Spanish and I'm here just trying to get through this day. So the teacher is out of the room and grading the test and my shoes are untied. Oh, Mr. Schick just came in the class. HE IS SHOWING US THE GRADE!!!!! OH MY GOSH I NEED AN A!! I don't know how to feel at the moment. So ...

First Day of Spring, Oh Look It's Snowing!

In Western Civilization, it was the last mod because we were getting out early.Everyone and probably I were just eager to get out and relax. In class, there was the last presentation about Homer. The presentation was pretty good, and the poll at the end about "the Homeric question" was really creative. There were seventeen of "I believe Homer existed" and six no's of "I do not believe that Homer existed." After that Mr. Schick showed all of pictures of the chaos the snow brings to his house, and all of his pets, including horses and dogs. I could not keep up with that type of house. A lot of land that consisted of animals and especially when it snows HARD. Imagine all the work you would have to do. It took me 2.5 hours to clean the driveway. My parents forgot to buy gas for the plower, so I see all my neighbors snow plowing there lawn while its just me cleaning the driveway with a shovel. Some parts of my shovel snapped because all the weight it was ca...

Last Day for Presentation & Book

Today in class, we went through the last 2 presentations. Dylan went first and his presentation was really good. The slideshow was good but his delivery to the class was amazing! I wish I had that kind of eye contact and the adrenaline to deliver a presentation to the class like that! He knew his tuff, but the slideshow could have been better. I learned a good amount about democracy. I don't think any kid in our class asked any group a question besides him. He knew what he was doing and it was interesting hearing from him. After him, there was a slideshow about triremes. It consisted of Nick Barry, Marcus Hudson, Richie Barbato, and Jimmy Paquette. The visual representation of the triremes looked amazing! I know for a fact, I could not make that. The presentation was good, and they were like me, not that much eye contact. We also read over The Spread of Hellenic Culture. To be fair,I had to reread some of the lines, and they still did not make sense. I might reread or just wait til...

Presenting Day 2

Today in class we went through some more presentations. After prayer and pledge, our group was up. I had everything memorized before presenting, and I thought I wouldn't do that ONE thing, staring at the screen. I don't know what got into me. I got up, and was so confused. I was stuttering, and I KEPT LOOKING AT THE BOARD!!!! I looked at everyone's grade that they gave to our group, and I was kind of shocked. Some high B's or low A's. I dedicated my weekend and yesterday into this, and yet I was doing majority of the work. I felt prepared but I don't know what got into me. I think I did pretty well on the visual side of presenting, but speaking it, gosh I don't know what I did. Mert and Logan did amazing on there part and Ryan just obviously wanted a good grade, despite of not doing any of the work. We went through some other groups. It was pretty interesting, but they kept on going on and on and I was getting bored, let alone it being the first class of the...

Presenting Day

Great, I missed a day of blogging. So when you don't take notes in class, I tend to forget to do a blog. For some reason, it's not getting used to for me. I was feeling really sick and tired on Monday. I went to sleep at 4:00 and woke up at 9:30 pm. my laptop was still in my bag and I was a mess. Sunday night, I was busy doing ALL THE WORK FOR MY GROUP, like the map and the essay. Friday and Saturday I just couldn't do it. We were busy throughout the afternoon on Sunday and there I was in my room from 6:00pm- 1:30 am. I asked Mr. Schick what if we could do a slideshow presentation on Monday, and he said sure. So I finished it up and we are ready. I did 75% of the major work in my group, and they did all the small stuff. On Monday, we started off the class with some really good food. It was very tasteful and I could imagine myself in Greece eating it. The other groups, not so well. Tomorrow is our presenting day first thing in the morning!

Last Day to Work on Project

In Western Civilization, we worked on our project. Mert, Logan, and I are working very hard through out this project and hope we get an A. Ryan on the other hand, does nothing. I have worked on my part of the project and I am almost done! I hope this project turns put the way it's supposed to be put together. In this project,  I asked Mr. Schick ALOT of questions. And they helped a lot. I was sick on the day we were working on the project, the last day, and my head was aching and could not do anything in school. There is only one problem, how am I going to take this in and out of school. Moving it place to place and and putting it in the car. This is going to take a lot of work. I just need to get better before the day we have to present. I do not want to be coughing and sneezing throughout the whole presentation.

Free Day

Today in class, we got some time to work on our project. To be fair, today was not a good day for me. My head was hurting a lot and I just needed some rest. The weekend was very hectic. The lights went tout and we didn't get it till late Saturday and our family head out to Pennsylvania, because our cousins invited us over. And yes, THEY HAD LIGHT! Was it good to have light, and wifi. I didn't really realize on how much we need light and our technology everyday. All of us me included, cannot were so dependent on light and internet that I bet we complained at least once. Don't even get me started on the aftermath. Outside of a school, I saw a pretty big tree fallen on its side, then when I got home, 3 of our trees in our backyard were tilting and and then they fell, and shingles were falling from our roof. I did not know wind could be that bad. Our trampoline was FLYING for at least one second and completely slammed into my house. Thankfully we are getting our deck fixed up a...

Alexander's Empire

In Western Civ, we took notes on Alexander the Great from our textbook. he is by far, in my opinion, the best historical figure that I have ever read about. These are the notes I took in class: Philip Builds Macedonia Power Macedonia- located north of Greece Shrewd and fearless kings cold climate lived in mountainous ranges Macedonians considered themselves as Greeks Greeks thought they were worthless Philip's Army 359 B.C.--- Philip II became king of Macedonia 23 year old king who was a smart general and a ruthless politician Organized phalanxes of 16 men across and deep with a 18 foot pike Break through enemy lines Fast cavalry to crush his opponents Prepared for the invasion of Greece Conquest of Greece Demosthenes warned Athens that Philip's army was coming to attack 338 B.C.-- Athens and Thebes joined to fight Philip Too late; Macedonia conquered Greece at the battle of Chaeronea  Ended Greek independence Philip couldn't in...

Discussion

Today in class, we continued on our video on our Crash Course notes. The video was a 10 minute video that took 3 classes. But philosophy is a lot to take in and actually be an expert in the class. After we finally finished watching the video, we worked on our project. Mert and I started on the project and discussed on the pace we were going to work on. Logan worked on the essay and Ryan is just there working with us for the grade. I have worked a lot with him last year and it's the same thing. I do all the work and him and I get the same grade. Our project is going to be very interesting and it will required a lot of work. My idea is to make a landscape of the project and put the items on the map like the Parthenon, Trojan Horse, soldiers, etc. Then I can make the map float on water with something that can float that the library might have, according to Mr. Schick. I have never done a project this creative in my life and its going to be a good one.
